Seven recently graduated Perrysburg students are returning to speak with current seniors about college life, academics and the surprises they experienced in their first semester of college life at the senior seminar Dec. 22, second hour in the Media Center.
* Senior must have already applied for college and must not have a test or a quiz that period.
* Seniors MUST sign up in the guidance office by December 17th.
Juniors and seniors who have earned a 3.7 or higher grade point average while in high school will be notified of their eligibility for membership in National Honor Society in February. Upon completion of the requested information, the Faculty Council will consider students for membership. Membership is based on excellence in scholarship, leadership, character and service. If you do not receive notification, but feel you qualify after the first semester, please check with your counselor for an accurate grade point average.
INFOhio has created an electronic resource site that includes popular magazines, research journals, newspapers, encyclopedias, dictionaries, speeches, maps and even satellite images of Ohio. These resources are available to every family 24 hours a day at NO charge.

Students can also log on to http://www.infohio.org and select any of the INFOhio Core Collection buttons. If prompted, enter the statewide username and password to gain access to INFOhio's databases. Once you click on the link for LearningExpressLibrary, click on the new user button to create an individual account to access the site.
There are AP practice tests, cosmetology practice tests, high school skills improvement sites, job search and success skills, math skills improvement, real estate tests, etc!!!
The major emphasis of the junior year is planning for the future. Some of the main guidance activities coming this school year will be preparing for and taking the ACT in the spring, visiting colleges, attending college fairs, looking at careers using the Ohio Career Information System (OCIS) and completing courses to meet graduation requirements. Students need to realize it is the overall GPA at the end of your junior year that is used for college entrance in the fall of your senior year. It is so important that you achieve the highest GPA you possibly can by the end of your junior year since most scholarships and college entrance requirements are based on your ACT scores and GPA.
COLLEGE VISITATION DAYS
Juniors are allowed two College Visitation Days. Two additional days will be granted to seniors who wish to visit schools in the fall. Keep in mind that students should apply to approximately 3-5 colleges before Thanksgiving of their senior year and a visitation is crucial to making wise college choices. Remember to pick up a College Visitation Verification form in addition to the Pre-Planned Absence Form (signed by your teachers) at least 5 days prior to the visitation. The College Visitation Verification Form must be signed by a college representative and a parent/guardian then returned to the main office for the absence to be excused.
JUNIOR APPOINTMENT
The guidance counselors will be calling all the juniors down individually during the fall/winter months for their Junior Appointment. The junior appointment is set up to review credits, discuss senior registration, and to look at post-high school plans. It cannot be stressed enough that colleges look very closely at the senior schedule when they review college applications. Colleges look for a strong finish!
