Admission to the service academies is a two-tiered process. The candidate must meet the academic and medical standards set by the academy. Secondly, the student must be nominated by a Congressman. Our Congressman, Hon. Bob Latta, can nominate five individuals to each academy. A nomination does not ensure admission to an academy. Congressional nominations do not factor into the admission process for the Coast Guard Academy.
