Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEOP)

Post Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEOP) is a program that allows high school students to enroll in college courses while still attending high school. During this time, they have an option to receive both high school and college credit. Most private colleges do not accept credit that is needed for high school graduation. Check with individual colleges concerning credit.
If you plan to participate in the PSEOP, use the following steps as a guide:
  1. Discuss your intentions to participate in the PSEO program with your school counselor.
  2. All students intending to participate in PSEOP courses should attend the MANDATORY meeting on February 23rd in the Media Center.
  3. Read an complete the Parent Waiver Form and return to the guidance office by March 30, 2011 for the 2011-2012 school year.
  4. Obtain and complete an application from the university you intend to attend. Return the application and any fees, if necessary, to the guidance office.
  5. The guidance staff will complete the high school section of the application, attach a transcript, and mail the documents to the designated university.
  6. Some colleges may require an ACT or PLAN test scores, or test of their own.
  7. Once the college admits the student to the PSEO program, he/she will be instructed by the individual college regarding scheduling classes.
  8. Bring a copy of the schedule of classes in to the guidance office.

Keep your high school counselor informed of your course enrollment plans.

Remember, 7.0 credits is the maximum you can earn in one year. If you exceed the maximum, you pay.

  • 4-5 college semester hrs = 1 high school credit
  • 2-3 college semester hrs = 0.5 high school credit
  • 1 college semester hr = 0.25 high school credit

Students and parents must download and read the PSEOP 2012 information page (available after February 23rd) AS WELL AS the PSEOP Waiver Form.
