The Perrysburg Board of Education voted on February 21, 2012 to return to ½ day everyday kindergarten for the 2012-2013 school year. While student academic performance under the current system of full day every other day kindergarten is impressive thanks to the talented staff members making it possible, it is clear that parents and staff alike are not happy with the system. Some have complained about the daily continuity with the school and the impact missing one day of school has on a student.
In 2009, the district made the change to save nearly $90,000 in transportation costs. Beginning kindergarten is many families’ first experience with Perrysburg Schools and we do not want to start it with trepidation or additional anxiety over the schedule. The district is currently building the budget for next year and will be making adjustments in energy and other areas to make this happen.
